A great space exploration milestone has been achieved by Blue Origin, the space company of Jeff Bezos.  Blue Origin’s rocket just took off from Texas, flew up over 60 miles to the edge of space, and most impressively, landed vertically on the ground with its “retro-rockets” firing.  Space enthusiasts have been waiting for a rocket to do this since they’ve seen it done in countless science fiction movies.  Most rockets are actually discarded, and only the capsule at the top with astronauts or cargo inside parachutes safely back to Earth.

Blue Origin’s vertical rocket-powered landing ushers in an era of rockets that can be refueled and reused, potentially making rocket launches much less expensive.
