Call it soda, pop, soft drinks, fizzies… whatever. If it has sugar in it and you drink it, there could be serious health risks. All this is detailed in a new health report published on Live Science:

Consumption of soda and other sugar-sweetened beverages may contribute to hundreds of thousands of deaths around the world, mainly due to Type 2 diabetes.

Previous research studies have shown that drinking sugar-sweetened beverages increases the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer, and this new study provides an estimate just how big this problem is.
