Former Google engineer Erica Baker recently took a stand against salary inequality by starting a project within Google that allowed employees to voluntarily post their salaries and bonuses into a shared spreadsheet accessible throughout the company. According to Business Insider that data made it clear that there were some “not great” trends — implied by Baker, but not stated, to be correlated to gender and ethnicity. So her manager reprimanded Erica and allegedly withheld bonuses. But the information was out there — and BI reports that the data was used by employees to justify raises and bonuses — so Erica is kind of a hero. A hero who now works at Slack.
