It took him 5 years, but German designer Julian Lechner has finally figured out how to turn coffee grounds into coffee cups.
Lechner scoured Berlin cafes and coffee shops for used coffee grounds. Then he mixed these grounds with natural glues and sustainably-sourced wood particles to create a substance that can be injection-molded into just about any shape–including coffee cups.
Now he’s started a company called Kaffeeform to solve the problem of the billions of disposable coffee cups that end up in landfills.
Lechner’s Kaffeeform cups are lightweight, washable, and durable so they can be used over and over.
Right now, Kaffeeform cups are in limited production in Europe. But if you really want one, you can order here.
