Here are some of the best views of the Northern Lights, the Aurora Borealis.  These phenomena are caused when the solar wind from the sun and cosmic rays interact with molecules in the upper atmosphere.  The molecules are ionized and radiation we see as mysterious colored light shines down from the sky.
